Our network of 120 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City._

Position Summary:


The Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring that all areas of a 14-unit and a 19-unit building are cleaned according to the provided schedule.

The Maintenance Worker will also perform preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.


Principal Responsibilities:


  • General cleaning of common areas and perimeter of the building.
  • Removal of garbage and recyclables in compliance with DSNY rules and regulations.
  • Cleaning of compactor and garbage chute rooms.
  • Coordinating and monitoring access for outside contractors and vendors as assigned.
  • Responding to daily requests for repairs.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on mechanical systems.
  • Maintaining the common area lighting, emergency exit doors and lights, laundry facilities.
  • Maintaining outdoor groundslandscaping, snow removal, storm maintenance and paint touch ups.
  • Maintaining stock inventory and utilization of maintenance materials and supplies.
  • Conducting annual apartment inspection and daily interior and exterior inspections.
  • Preparing vacant units for occupancy.
  • Reporting directly to the Residence Director daily.

Skill and Education:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1+ years of maintenance experience (required)
  • Ability to read and follow instructions

Physical Demands:

Required Constantly: Walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting of materials and tools pounds).

Required Frequently: Climbing ladders, operating machinery.

Required Occasionally: Shoveling of snow, reaching above the shoulder, pushing and pulling.


Compensation:
$20.00 per hour
