- Oversee operations and the coordination of marine shipboard production including but not limited to; welders, electricians, fire watch, pipefitters, laborers.
- Consistently communicate with program management and staff on overall operations.
- Supervise and coordinate teams of various trades to accomplish a total project; this includes but is not limited to training, evaluating performance, and setting performance goals and objectives.
- Initiate manpower assignments.
- Ensure marine shipboard SCI personnel are fully prepared to support shipboard production on a case-by-case basis, with personnel protective equipment and required tools and equipment.
- Clearly define performance work statement to the trade supervisors.
- Assign marine production personnel when available to appropriate locations based on needs and skill set.
- Provide input for SCI progress meetings, and to ensure even workflow as far as progress of an item through changing status or distribution of work.
- Keep trades informed of upcoming workload requirements, including those that are surge specific.
- Provide weekly reports to program management to reflect manning levels, demand, as well as short and long- term effects on manning due to attendance issues.
- Report any loss of asset capabilities or planned blackouts, to include personnel and equipment.
- Track and report marine projects to include task completion and milestones.
- Maintain a cohesive SCI work environment by promoting a positive workflow between trades.
- Communicate any issues or concerns with program management.
- Maintain a high level of integrity and lead by example.
- Investigate accidents and injuries, and prepare reports of findings.
- Promptly counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
- Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
- SCI employees at any level may be assigned at any time to perform tasks unrelated to their primary job description.
- Identify and implement efficiency, quality and safety improvements of shipboard activities.
- Recognize areas of concern either by observation or reporting.
- Actively find improvement of processes and techniques to assure the most efficient production procedures are followed.
- Strive for the best quality of work and provide the highest possible value of services.
- Must wear approved shoes/boots.
- Must wear approved safety glasses when necessary.
- Must wear earplugs when necessary.
- Must obey the safety standards of SCI and follow all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop a plan of action for cross-training personnel when work load permits to ensure consistent productivity.
- Utilize cross-training to support trades as needed.
- Ensure training documents are current, up-to-date and submitted to human resources for documentation.
- Coordinate training for personnel to ensure skill level requirements are met and maintained.
- Provide leadership and training to trade supervisors and staff to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
- Exposure to hazardous noise areas.
- Typically, very dirty.
- Exposure to hot and cold climates.
- May be exposed to strong fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.
- Bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, twisting up to 10 hours when stocking shelves or picking up items.
- Ladders may be required.
- Lifting, carrying up to 10 hours, up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis, 25 lbs. on a frequent basis, and 5-10lbs on a more frequent basis.
- Sitting as required to perform essential job functions.
- Stairs used often up to 10 hours per day.
- Standing-must be able to stand in one place up to 10 hours with breaks and lunch in between.
- Walking up to 10 hours per day.
- Hearing-must be able to work in loud environments up to 10 hours per day.
