    The Study at University of Chicago is looking for a dynamic, personable, and attentive Director, Sales and Marketing to be a part of our team.

    This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing brand that focuses on the needs of university markets while providing an elevated experience.

    ResponsibilitiesProvide professional and courteous guest service at all times. Promote a high-quality company image by demonstrating professionalism to both clients and colleagues.
    Manage all aspects of the sales and marketing department. Provide the strategic vision and implement effective sales strategies for maximum hotel sales generation and optimal revenue growth.
    Provide support and coaching for team members to drive high levels of performance, job satisfaction, and personal growth. Train and empower sales team members to exercise good judgment to make profitable business decisions.
    Forge new customer relationships. Cultivate, enhance, and leverage relationships to elevate awareness of the hotel and gain market share. Conduct sales calls and visits on the universities' departments, key accounts, and major prospects in the market.
    Create successful marketing strategies through innovation.

    Periodically assess the effectiveness of your sales programs and make adjustments by utilizing market data, market segment and revenue management intelligence.

    Monitor team sales activities and performance to ensure their collective revenue goals meet or exceed the established plan.
    Accountability for the departmental budgets and proven success in achieving sales goals.

    Collaborate with stakeholders on the revenue expectations and departmental costs to ensure the sales plan is on budget to meet or exceed profit goals.

    Performs other duties if required and as assigned, as stated above may not be inclusive of every task needed to achieve results.


    FundamentalsEducation:
    A Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing or related field is required.

    Must have previous industry experience as a leader of leaders in a Director of Sales or Assistant Director of Sales capacity.

    Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills are vital to effectively negotiate, influence, persuade and sell.
    Proficient in forecasting sales and interpreting/analyzing results.
    Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, requirements and translating these into sales solutions.
    Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and can perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed.
    Skilled in the use of computer and software programs associated with Sales and Catering, and hotel property management systems.
    Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments.

    The 167-room hotel features a full array of suites, including our signature Study accommodations, a 100-seat Restaurant/Gastropub, 4,700 SF of banquet/meeting space including a 2,500 SF Winter Garden, specifically designed for social events, a state-of-the-art fitness center.
