    Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an

    Engineer System Safety

    to support the Command and Launch Segment Integration and Test team. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

    Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production, and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated Infrastructure.

    What You'll Get To Do


    The successful candidate will apply engineering principles to analyze and recommend design features that meet safety criteria in system design to control or eliminate hazards.

    The role includes active participation in the design of products/systems, associated support equipment and facilities.

    Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

    Influence design for meeting safety expectations and requirements for our Northrop Grumman Products.

    Apply engineering principles to analyze and recommend design features that meet safety criteria in system design to control or eliminate hazards.

    Active participation in the design of products/systems, associated support equipment and facilities.

    Develop safety documents, as required, to support customer and test/operational range requirements and performing audits of operational areas and reporting on the effectiveness of system safety program.

    Evaluate the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost-effective program.

    This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

    Job Qualifications


    You'll Bring These Qualifications:

    Engineer System Safety :
    Bachelors of Science Degree OR higher in Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or closely related technical discipline; 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters

    Principal Engineer System Safety :
    Bachelors of Science Degree OR higher in Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or closely related technical discipline; 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
    Experience with MIL-STD-882E
    Experience developing a System Safety Program Plans
    Familiarity with OSHA Standards
    Experience performing Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Test Hazard Analyses (THA), and support incorporating updates into the existing Hazard Tracking System (HTS) records and Safety Analysis Report (SAR)
    Strong written and verbal communication skills of the English language is desired
    Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance and PAR Access
    These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

    Electrical and/or Mechanic Engineering coursework
    Software coursework
    Model Based Systems Engineering coursework
    Experience in supporting System Test activities, test hazard analyses

    Salary Range:
    $73,400 - $110,000

    Salary Range 2:
    $90,400 - $135,600


    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

    In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
