Position Summary
Ogletree Deakins is currently hiring a Director of Human Resources to lead the firm's Human Resource Department.
Responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to:
leading and providing strategic oversight for all Human Resources programs and policies for the firm, including compensation, benefits, payroll, leave administration, staff performance management, and employee relations; working with the Chief Talent Officer and Board of Directors on firm-wide talent strategy; working with firm's General Counsel to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws; and providing leadership and management to a team of professionals, defining team goals, objectives and priorities.
This position reports to the firm's Chief Talent Officer.Essential Functions
Leads the Firm's Human Resources team in regards to all HR related matters to include compliance, employee relations, compensation, HR systems, benefits, leave administration, ADA and payroll.
Provides guidance and support to Office Managing Shareholders, Office Administrators, and other firm leadership to ensure policies and procedures meet firm needs and are consistently applied throughout firm in addition to providing guidance on employee relations/performance issues.
Works closely with General Counsel on internal investigations and responds appropriately to reports of policy violations.Works closely with local offices, firm management, and Board of Directors on non-shareholder attorney and staff compensation. Routinely reviews scales and market data for associates and staff members. Shares perspectives with Board of Directors for associate scale adjustments and sets staff scales based on market compensation.
Drives continuous process improvement in the application of HR technology to improve efficiencies and effectiveness.
Serves as a member of firm's Benefits and 401(k) Committees.
Provides guidance to HR team on day-to-day implementation and administration of benefit plans, policies, process and procedures to ensure compliance with firm plans and federal, state, and local laws.
Responsible for oversight of leave administration in multiple states.Works with international offices, brokers and vendors to coordinate and administer international benefits.
Oversees global payroll administration for all firm employees and shareholders.
Collaborates closely with other department heads, especially Recruiting, Attorney and Staff Development, Office Administration, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, to ensure alignment in people related processes.
Partners with the Chief Talent Officer and Board of Directors to identify and implement key programs that strengthen the employee value proposition.
Plans and recommends budget for Human Resources department and related firm expenses; manages expenditures and monitors budget variances.Maintains current knowledge and understanding of regulations, legal industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws regarding human resources.
