    Description

    Reporting to the Director of Corporate Relations and Volunteer Programs, the Volunteer Programs Coordinator organizes all volunteer resources to enhance the delivery of the Museum's programs and services. This includes working cross-functionally to provide guidance, support, and tools to Museum team members through volunteer programming.

    The Volunteer Programs Coordinator will be able to make a positive, long-term impact on the community by connecting dynamic science learning with opportunities for volunteers to engage with at the Museum. The Volunteer Programs Coordinator will be responsible for initiating, cultivating, and developing sustained and productive relationships with volunteers, trustees, stakeholders, and other Museum supporters across North Texas.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Authentically and professionally project and reflect the mission of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science
    • Gather and assess the needs of Museum staff to determine adequate volunteer presence, roles, and responsibilities
    • Build strong relationships with individual volunteers and groups
    • Deliver informational presentations to volunteers and internal stakeholders
    • Help to develop strategies and structures (systems, processes, financial accountability) for a dynamic, growing volunteer department
    • Plan and coordinate the annual volunteer engagement event with the Volunteer Programs Coordinator and Director of Corporate Relations and Volunteer Programs.
    • Research, recommend, attend, and participate in appropriate professional organization engagements or events to represent the Museum and extend the reach of the mission to diverse populations
    • Incorporate consistent utilization of partnership communication so that the Perot Museum is known for quality volunteer opportunities in North Texas
    • Demonstrate thoughtful and appropriate time management in extending the vision, strategies, and tactics required for effective partnerships
    • Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation of all activities, tasks, and contacts
    • Work collaboratively with leadership to create a cohesive and comprehensive visitor and volunteer experience across Museum audiences and programming locations
    • Maintain a general understanding of all Museum program offerings, including audience, topics, and curricula

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
    • At least one year of experience in education and programming
    • At least one year of experience in a role that demonstrates engagement, passion, and commitment to community and volunteer service
    • At least one year of experience in a role that demonstrates practical knowledge of local community organizations and resources
    • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve expected results while working independently and collaboratively
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Proven capacity to work effectively as a team player who can consistently interact and demonstrate civility among peers and other associates within a collegial yet demanding, fast-paced work environment
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully handle a variety of diverse constituencies, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities
