The Accounting Manager manages the Accounting division of the Finance Department including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, fixed assets and general accounting.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Participates in performing professional accounting duties in the analysis, preparation and maintenance of financial records, statements, and reports.
Ensures appropriate financial controls and security measures are in place to safeguard City funds.
Performs complex and difficult financial and accounting analyses.
Leads process improvement projects involving complex systems within the City.
Manages the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, fixed assets records, and general accounting, to include recording transactions to the general ledger and reconciling accounts.
Participates in the development of the City's annual operating budget.Participates and assists in coordinating activities for the City's annual financial audit.
Assists other City departments and entities with accounting issues or tasks.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
This position is subject to the City of Portland's Background Investigation and Drug Testing Policy. The City verifies all information prior to extending an offer of employment.
