    Assistant Environmental Health Specialist / Environmental Health Specialist I & II

    Description:


    Under close supervision and with detailed instructions andspecific standards, incumbent gathers data on environmentalissues; perform preliminary environmental analysis, research,surveys, investigations, and studies of less difficulty; preparepreliminary drafts of reports; prepare drafts of routinecorrespondence; answer questions of a routine and minor naturefrom the public; and do other related work.

    Work at this level ischaracterized by a reliance on detailed instructions andassistance from higher graded Environmental Specialists in theapplication of proven techniques and methodologies to assignedwork.


    Qualifications:

    Experience:

    Education:
    In accordance with Section106635 of the California Health and Safety Code, a bachelor'sdegree or advanced degree with a major in biological, chemical,physical, or environmental science, or a closely relatedscientific discipline is required


    Experience:
    AEHS and


    EHS I:
    Some experience in the duties of an Environmental HealthSpecialist preferred


    EHS II:

    Twelve (12) months of experienceperforming a variety of Environmental Health investigations andinspections equivalent to Environmental Health Specialist I withLassen County.

    Promotion to the Environmental Health SpecialistII for Lassen County Environmental Health I employees can be madewithout competition upon completion of twelve (12) months ofexperience and the recommendation of the Department Head.


    Licenses and Certifications:

    EHS I:
    Possession of a valid letterof eligibility for employment as an Environmental Health Traineefrom the California Department of Public Health


    EHS II:
    Possession of a valid Environmental Health registration issued bythe California Department of Public Health. Valid Californiadriver's license.
