    Description

    Budget Analyst

    Simatree is actively looking for a Budget Analyst to provide analytical support to our Federal Government Agency client tasked with improving the immigration lifecycle. The Budget Analyst will be responsible for budget formulation and performance management as well as providing advice and assistance on budget, performance, and financial management issues. This position is contingent upon contract award and requires a US Citizenship.

    Essential Functions

    -Provides input on policies, procedures and systems involved in budgeting and financial management. Supports production of budget formulation and justification materials.

    -Analyzes the budgetary implications of new or revised, proposed and/or enacted legislation and regulations; provides accurate advice on all phases of budgeting to various levels of managers and staff members.

    -Develops various budget analyses, reports, charts, and briefing materials, for presentation to agency leadership.

    -Regularly analyzes and presents budget information on various programs and agency activities to senior leadership including recommendations on the application of resources for various programs and offices.

    -Ensures accuracy of financial data entered into the agency's automated accounting and budgeting systems. Regularly identifies, analyzes, and recommends office policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness of office operations.

    -Participates in special projects, either as a team lead or team member. The projects may be specific to the budget or may address general agency operations or policy. Meets all internal and external deadlines.

    -Interacts daily with a wide variety of stakeholders and senior management in the performance of duties.

    -Conducts accounting investigations of special problem areas, particularly where no guidelines are furnished, and formulates solutions based on sound accounting principles and techniques.

    Requirements

    -You must be a United States Citizen.

    -Minimum of 3 years of experience working on budget actions (and executing organizational change management practices).

    -Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

    -Proven experience as a Budget Analyst or similar role, with a strong understanding of budgeting processes and financial analysis techniques.

    -Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting software (e.g., Excel, SAP, Oracle).

    -Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex financial data.

    -Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

    -Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    -Understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.

    -Certification such as Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) or Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) is a plus.
