    Description

    DescriptionApplicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative professional and technical (APT) or Instructional-type positions.

    Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays.

    Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to one calendar year for part-time employees.

    • Perform administrative activities; exercises technical review over personnel documents, records, statements, & report preparation
    • Advise on the preparation, review, and submission of employment forms and payroll documents according to the applicable deadlines, support submission of documents as time allows.
    • Work with RCUH on administering positions and the hiring of RCUH personnel
    • Review documents relative to classification of positions and recruitment and selection of new employees. Ensures that request/selection conform to established policies, procedures
    • Maintain personnel files in accordance with UH, RCUH, state, and federal regulations
    • Advise principal investigators and other HNEI AO on immigration related matters to ensure that accurate and complete documentation is submitted
    • Advise on position descriptions and salary negotiations, action memos, etc. for appropriateness
    • Advise HNEI staff to ensure timely and accurate response requests for employment verification and other inquiries from governmental agencies, financial institutions and businesses over the telephone or by written communication
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications1.

    Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field and 7 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for human resources management; or equivalent education/training or experience.2.

    Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the human resources management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.3.

    Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.4.

    Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.5.

    Experience with HR administration in higher education.
