- Lobby at the federal level to support ACC-approved policy issues for the cardiovascular profession and patients under their care.
- Monitor and analyze federal legislative actions related to cardiovascular healthcare delivery.
- Provide guidance to ACC members and state Chapters on legislative matters.
- Report on significant legislative policy updates, including congressional hearings and actions.
- Cultivate relationships with Congress, the administration, and other government entities.
- Identify opportunities for ACC representation at Congressional hearings and public events.
- Collaborate with the HeartPAC and grassroots development team on political strategies.
- Prepare briefing materials and position papers on legislative issues impacting cardiovascular specialists.
- Contribute to advocacy content for College publications and website.
- Support Advocacy and other College committees with counsel and staffing.
- Act as a representative and policy advisor for the ACC on designated issues.
- Bachelor's degree in political science or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years in federal lobbying or government relations, preferably focusing on health policy.
- Ability to analyze health-related legislation and political landscapes.
- Strong research and communication skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining connections on Capitol Hill.
- Experience in associations or non-profits.
- Knowledge of health policy areas such as Medicare, health technology, and medical device regulations.
- Prior engagement with key Congressional committees.

The Associate Director of Legislative Affairs will be part of the lobbying team at the American College of Cardiology (ACC), contributing to the advancement of the ACC's legislative agenda with Congress, seeking out legislative opportunities, and nurturing relationships on Capitol Hill by engaging regularly with members of Congress and their staff.
This role is located in Washington, DC and offers a hybrid work environment (approximately 40% on-site).
