    Program Summary:

    The Phillip Reid Home was created to expand the availability of youth-friendly shelter beds and transitional housing services in a city where the need is high. Youth-friendly placements will enable the opportunity for young people to grow and move towards self-sufficiency in a safe place. The Phillip Reid Shelter is a 24-bed program serving youth ages 18-24 who are economically or emotionally detached from their families and lack an adequate or fixed residence. This is a hybrid program consisting of two programs: an extended transitional housing program and a temporary crisis shelter for youth/young adults between the ages of 18-24.

    Position Summary:

    Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Assistant Program Manager is responsible for the management of the case management system, enhancement of the delivery of services, and direct case management at Phillip Reid.

    This includes assigning cases to staff, reviewing client files for accuracy and completeness, providing clinical support and supervision to case management staff, and providing skilled intervention with challenging youth and families plus staff coaching. Ensures the highest quality of care to Sasha Bruce clients and families by creating an environment which is safe, respectful and positive. The Assistant Program Manager will also assist with assigned administrative responsibilities, resource development and networking, participating in trainings and staff meetings.

    This is a full-time, exempt level position. Must be able to work Monday – Friday, be on call as assigned by program manager, and assist with coverage gaps regularly.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Acts as the primary with data management and entry, including but not limited to: reviewing case files documentation in HMIS and other electronic case management systems for accuracy and thoroughness; reviews paper files to ensure accuracy and thoroughness; and other related duties;
    • Assists with leading case conference meetings;
    • Provides supervision to staff as assigned by the Program Manager;
    • Provides on-site supervision while maintaining professional boundaries with residents; including crisis intervention and on-site counseling;
    • Provides direct services to assigned case load including educational and legal advocacy, employment and life skills development, referrals, crisis intervention, etc.; provides appropriate referrals;
    • Collaborates with Case Managers and Program Managers on assessments and develops action plans for each resident when necessary;
    • Participates in regular supervision with program manager/clinical director.
    • Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings and other meetings/activities identified by the program manager.
    • Oversees the reporting, planning and implementation of activity schedules.
    • Assists in planning, establishing, implementing policies and procedures.
    • Makes regular house check inspections inside the building and in the area immediately outside, and checks individual rooms when necessary.
    • Carries out emergency fire evacuation, and emergency procedures in case of an illness or accident.
    • Provides office coverage, answer and record all phone calls and visitors, enforce house rules and ensure house safety.
    • Promptly reports any inconsistencies, conflicts or problematic situations which arise to the Program Manager.
    • Assumes a leadership role in the absence of or at the direction of Program Manager, including directing staff duties and/or during crises, to create calm therapeutic solutions.
    • Provides coverage/managerial responsibilities in the absence of Program Manager.
    • Participates in at least 40 hours of training provided or recommended by the Agency yearly.
    • Updates annual safety sensitive background checks.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field, Master's Degree preferred and;
    • a minimum of 5 years' clinical counseling and/or case management experience, preferably working with adolescents/young adults.
    • All candidates must possess a valid Driver's License, pass the required DC clearances (and other states as applicable) and provide any additional information regarding previous records.
