Position Description:


Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Executing targeted program goals by implementing disciplined, comprehensive, and flexible program management processes
  • Monitoring project metrics, conducting rigorous risk management, and promptly reporting on approved cost, schedule, performance, and risk baseline
  • Supporting integrated healthcare strategic planning by incorporating governmental healthcare program management best practices and integrating all required functions for a successful outcome
  • Developing goals, objectives, strategies, performance measures, targets, improved programmatic outcomes, succession plans, and linkages to programming, budgeting, and evaluations
  • Documenting gaps, risks, and other related issues that may impact program success
  • Other program management tasks, as assigned
  • Support onsite work days, as requested, in Washington DC
  • Support business travel, as requested

Experience/Education Requirements (but are not limited to):

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Eligibility to obtain Veterans Affairs (VA) suitability approval to access agency computer systems and facilities required to start work; current VA credentials preferred
  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Studies in Business Administration, Project Management, or related discipline
  • PMP certification
  • 10+ years of related experience employing proven systematic methods for collecting, analyzing, and leveraging information to evaluate healthcare projects, policies, and programs for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Expertise working with VACO, 10NG, VISN, or similar VHA environment
  • Experience planning, initiating, managing, executing, and closing out programs at the enterprise level
  • Expertise in the implementation of program management processes to ensure program success
  • Ability to clearly communicate and exchange information with coworkers, teammates, stakeholders, and other personnel, as required
  • Proficiency working across the Microsoft Office Suite including proficiency with MS Excel

Work Environment/Physical Demands:


  • This job operates in a professional office environment with prolonged periods sitting at a desk, attending meetings, and using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and video teleconferencing equipment.
  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, the ability to move office items such as files, laptop/computer equipment, meeting materials, and other work supplies may require carrying and lifting items up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Business travel may be required.
