- Conducts and analyzes surveys on benefits programs of other employers and informs management of trends and developments.
- Researches, develops, and implements new and modified benefits plans, programs and policies and cost-saving measures.
- Acts as liaison with insurance carriers, actuaries, benefits consultants, and other agencies.
- Selects consultants and other service providers.
- Responds to and resolves employee complaints and appeals regarding benefits plan provisions and advises, approves or denies exception requests.
- Manages the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
- University degree in Human Resources Administration, Business Administration or a related field with generally eight years of experience.
- Detailed knowledge of laws and regulations governing benefits programs including ERISA and HIPAA.
- Detailed knowledge of fundamental and advanced benefits concepts and practices including the ability to administer employee benefits plans, evaluate existing benefits for market competitiveness by analyzing other plans, surveys and other sources of information and to develop, recommend and install approved, new or modified benefits plans, programs and policies.
- Working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems concepts and practices as they apply to benefits.
