Description
The Quaker School at Horsham (TQS) is searching for a Director
of Development to begin July 1, 2024.
The Director of Development is responsible for providing
leadership and strategically managing all the school's fund-raising
programs as adopted by the Board of Trustees and directed by the
Head of School. This individual oversees all fund-raising—annual,
capital, planned giving, endowment and special events—as well as
constituency relations and volunteer coordination.
Additionally, this individual is responsible for preparing and
monitoring the development budget and generating annual goals and
objectives. Other responsibilities include collaboration with
marketing and communications as it relates to development and other
areas as part of an integrated approach to the school's overall
advancement efforts.
The Director of Development reports directly to the Head of
School and works closely with the Board of Trustees, especially
with the Committee on Trustees and the Development and Finance
Committees. This individual works with a broad range of Board
members, administrative colleagues, faculty, students, alumni,
parents, grandparents and community members. This individual
participates in the policy-making of the school as a member of the
leadership team.
TQS uses research-based programs provided by compassionate
professionals to enable each student with complex challenges to
blossom and achieve meaningful personal, social and academic
success. Our compassionate community builds trusting relationships
among students, parents, therapists, faculty and staff.
The physical, mental and emotional well-being of faculty and
staff is of top importance. We provide opportunities for fellowship

within our faculty and staff community.
Position Title: Director of Development
Status: Full-time, 12 months
FLSA: Exempt
Salary: $120,000
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and executes a strategic
fundraising plan that includes individual giving, major gifts,
corporate partnerships, grants, events and focusing on sustainable
revenue growth.
Develops and implements strategic
plans, programs and campaign initiatives to expand and strengthen
the school's current base of philanthropic support.
Identifies, cultivates and maintains
relationships with current and prospective donors, including
individuals, foundations, corporations and government
agencies.
Sets annual and strategic goals
for–and plans, develops and coordinates the expense budget of–
development.
Educates the school's constituencies
about development and fund-raising activities.
Collaborates with the Board of
Trustees to engage them in fundraising efforts, providing support
and guidance to board members in their roles as ambassadors and
fundraisers.
Creates and manages major gifts
initiatives, including identifying and cultivating major donors,
developing customized solicitation strategies and securing major
gifts.
Plans and implements all aspects of
multi-million dollar campaigns (e.g. capital, endowment, or
comprehensive) and major gifts programs.
Develops a planned giving
program.
Plans and implements approaches to
potential foundation funders and to potential corporate sponsors
for supporting the school.
Proactively develops, provides and
supports individualized solicitation plans for the Head of School,
Trustees, other volunteer leaders to carry out.
Develops fundraising materials, donor
communications and marketing strategies that align with fundraising
goals.
Directs the day-to-day activities of
Development and ensures that administrative systems and procedures
such as database management, stewardship and prospect research
function smoothly and efficiently.
Keeps the Head of School, Leadership
and Development Committee informed with accurate and timely
information regarding fund-raising activities and progress toward
established goals.
Staffs the Board Development
Committee and the Committee on Trustees, offering them guidance,
status reports and support.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of fundraising principles,
practices and daily operations within a development office.
Knowledge of strategic institutional branding, volunteer
recruitment, advertising, marketing and public and community
relations. Ability to think strategically to inform and frame
plans and execution.
Excellent interpersonal and
communications skills, including public speaking and the ability to
articulate and present clear, persuasive written and verbal
communications.
Advanced understanding of
administering budgets. Ability to think strategically and analyze
trends; develop short- and long-term projections.
Demonstrates a collaborative
management style; has a relational management style with an ability
to motivate and develop teams.
Ability to work effectively as a team
leader as well as independently; ability to train, inspire and
motivate volunteers, peers and subordinates.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; master's
degree preferred.
Eight years progressively responsible
experience as a senior level development officer.
Proven track record in major gift
solicitations and capital campaign experience.
Five (5) years supervisory experience
developing, managing and evaluating team members.
