TITLE: Accounting Manager

REPORTS TO: Controller

SUPERVISES: Accounting Staff

FLSA: Exempt

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial reporting tasks carried out by the Finance department. They oversee a team of accounting staff to ensure compliance with regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Support in the monthly, quarterly, and yearly preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and reports, such as the monthly Board Package, Mortgage Lending Retail branch P&L report, and internal reports to different departments.
Manage a team of 3-5 full-time accounting employees.
Prepare quarterly MBFRF report.
Oversee the monthly closing process, including reviewing reconciliations and analyzing related accounts.
Supervise the accounts payable function.
Review and authorize journal entries made by the accounting staff.
Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate handling of general ledger transactions.
Assist the Controller in organizing and preparing for internal and external audits.
Create and update written policies and procedures regarding the financial reporting process.
Resolve accounting issues and evaluate new accounting pronouncements to maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process and controls.
Provide backup support for payroll and commission tasks.
Regularly communicate with managers from the parent company to align accounting procedures.
Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

3+ years of supervisory experience.
2-4 years of experience in Mortgage/Banking.
Auditing experience is advantageous.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products.
Proficiency in Fiserv/Prologue, Encompass, and LeaseQuery.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Effective communication skills in person, by phone, and via email.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the responsibilities of this role, the employee must effectively communicate verbally, operate a keyboard, occasionally stand, walk, reach, and lift/move up to 10-15 pounds.
