As a Senior Accountant - Record to Report, you will be trusted to primarily support payroll accounting for North America.

In this role, a typical day will include:
Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS / Alcon Accounting Manual
Prepare accurate and robust monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, including analyses for balance sheet reviews
Prepare accurate journal entries in a timely manner
Ongoing process improvements made through the month to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and address business / operational changes.
Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues, internal and external accounting authorities/auditors, and Regional/Global Financial Reporting and Accounting. Communication with these partners is appropriate and timely when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise.
Ensure all processes comply with Alcon standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Alcon Accounting Manual, Alcon Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).

Understand all impacts to the general ledger for assigned areas due to other intra- and inter-departmental transactions including manufacturing, inventory and cost accounting, inter-company receivables and payables, cash activity and activity from other functional departments.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
2 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Requirements:
Education in Accounting or Finance; experience as a CPA/Chartered Accountant
Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (GAAP), accounting, and financial reporting requirements.
Experience with payroll accounting and personal benefits accounting
Strong analytical skills
Proficient ERP knowledge (SAP); Proven Microsoft Office skills, including MS Access, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
Experience working on process improvement projects and financial process engineering
Experience working within shared services teams
