    Position Summary

    The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, facilitate period close, general ledger accountability, financial reporting, financial analysis and other special projects as assigned. Provide additional support to other accounting team members as needed.

    Position Description

    Key Result Areas

    • Drive month-end close and year-end close activities including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and review of budget-to-actual reports.
    • Prepare monthly account reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled with resolution to reconciling items.
    • Drive related party/affiliate accounting and intercompany account reconciliations.
    • Review the general ledger for discrepancies and/or entry errors, making necessary corrections.
    • Work closely with Financial Analyst and other Senior Accountants to understand how to calculate, account for and reconcile the Work in Progress schedule.
    • Maintain the fixed asset system of all property and equipment; including monthly entries, reconciliation and physical inventories.
    • Maintenance of company equipment module.
    • Project setup and maintenance in Sage.
    • Assist with the review and preparation of entity level financial statements on a monthly basis.
    • Variance Analysis, both routine and ad hoc.
    • Prepare schedules for annual audit; research issues, clarify information and prepare supporting documentation.
    • Attend and support physical inventories as needed. Oversees the reconciliation of inventory.
    • Support the Controller, Financial Reporting Manager, and FPA Manager with special projects as needed.
    • Make recommendations to increase operational efficiency and accuracy. Support process improvement initiatives.
    • Cross trains and supports other functional areas within Accounting department to improve departmental operational efficiency.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
    • 3+ years of professional experience.
    • Sage 300-Timberline experience is a plus.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
    • Construction background preferred.

    • CPA/CMA candidate.

    • Mathematic Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
