    Obsidian Therapeutics is expanding the reach of TIL therapy. We are pioneering engineered tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapies to deliver transformative outcomes for patients suffering from solid tumor malignancies. Obsidian's programs apply our cytoDRiVE platform technology to express regulated therapeutic proteins to enhance anti-tumor activity. We're currently investigating our lead program OBX-115 and enrolling patients in an ongoing clinical trial in advanced or metastatic melanoma.

    On April 3, 2024, we announced closure of a significantly oversubscribed $160.5 million Series C financing with a top-tier syndicate of life science investors led by new investor, Wellington Management. Proceeds from the financing will advance Obsidian's lead program in its ongoing trials. We're focused on enrolling patients and reaching key clinical and regulatory milestones, as well as manufacturing scale-up ahead of pivotal trial readiness.

    Additional Series C Financing Details

    Our Series C financing was led by new investor, Wellington Management. Additional new investors participating in the financing include Foresite Capital, Janus Henderson Investors, Novo Holdings A/S, Paradigm BioCapital, RTW Investments, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., and Woodline Partners LP. Existing investors Atlas Venture, Blue Owl Healthcare Opportunities, Bristol Myers Squibb, Deep Track Capital, Logos Capital, RA Capital Management, TCGX, Samsara BioCapital and Surveyor Capital (a Citadel company) also participated in the financing.

    Our Opportunity

    Obsidian Therapeutics is seeking a finance professional with strong business partnering, financial, analytical, and communication skills. In this role, you will be responsible for key corporate planning that will support the company's transition from a private, early-stage company through a potential Initial Public Offering and into a publicly traded, multi-product, late-stage company. You will be a key business partner working directly with our executive leadership team across R&D and G&A functions, including the CEO, Clinical Development, Research, Technical Operations/Manufacturing, Corporate Strategy, IT & Facilities, and HR. Your role will be to help to our leaders build and maintain budgets, plan their functions, and make strategic decisions for the company on portfolio prioritization and business development.

    We are seeking a finance professional who conducts insightful financial analyses, manages the short- and long-term P&L, and has experience working with executive management, all within a clinical-stage biotechnology company; cell therapy experience preferred. The ideal candidate has a versatile skillset and has demonstrated agility in taking on new roles and responsibilities. This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

    Key FP&A responsibilities:

    • Develop with executive leadership a financial long-range plan, including a scenario-based forecast model with 3+ years of financials.
    • Build annual operating budgets for G&A and R&D departments.
    • Conduct quarterly business reviews, including actual vs budget and actuals/latest estimate vs prior forecast analyses and reports.
    • Develop management reports to explain variances and provide financial insight to drive strategic and operational decision making.
    • Build and update quarterly forecasts with department leads.
    • Provide financial support for capital investment decisions for manufacturing and laboratory facilities.
    • Maintain Obsidian's corporate financial model, including long range projections on revenue, operating profit, cash flow, and valuation.
    • Support diligence with research analysts, investors, and investment bankers.
    • Support Business Development team with revenue and valuation models.

    Key business partnership responsibilities:

    • Develop executive summary presentations and manage monthly reporting and analysis packages to support strategic decision-making.
    • Partner closely with G&A/R&D functions to drive enterprise-level financial planning, support HR with headcount planning, and strategic planning.
    • Maintain and improve financial models and reports that track and analyze functional costs and their impact on the company's overall performance.
    • Drive reporting, forecasting, and process improvements, including developing reports for trending and analysis of specific business objectives.
    • Lead quarterly enterprise risk planning and mitigation to determine most critical business risks and mitigation plans.

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, or Accounting
    • 8+ years of industry experience
    • 3-5+ years of life sciences industry experience
    • Experience partnering with internal teams and external consultants, accountants, auditors, etc.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
    • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment and across multiple senior levels of management.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • MBA, CPA or CFA a plus
    • Masters degree in business, finance, and/or accounting
    • Experience at a publicly listed company
    • Cell therapy experience
