    Reporting to the VP, Global Media Relations, the Media & Public Relations Manager will work with a cross-section of communications colleagues on a wide range of projects to support Pearson's proactive media relations and storytelling efforts.

    A strong predictor of success for the Media & Public Relations Manager is an ability to build their business acumen, manage and develop strategic media relationships, work through ambiguity, apply results-oriented strategies to deliver business outcomes, and serve as a strong strategic partner.

    The successful candidate must also be able to exercise good judgement, manage several simultaneous projects, quickly distill important information and synthesize insight from executives to make informed decisions.


    Key Responsibilities + Media relations:
    Proactively identify and engage with relevant media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure media coverage that enhances Pearson's reputation

    + Media strategy:

    Develop and execute a comprehensive U.S. media relations and engagement strategy to deliver timely and accurate information that aligns with enterprise business objectives.


    • Spokesperson:
    Serve as a company spokesperson who can articulate Pearson's growth strategy and shape news coverage

    + Crisis Management:

    Partner with communications colleagues to develop and implement crisis communications plans and mitigate potential risks

    + Media monitoring:

    Continuously monitor and analyze media coverage tone and sentiment and make data-driven decisions to optimize storytelling. Manage vendors and budgets.


    • Campaign development:

    Collaborate with consumer facing and B2B businesses to conceptualize and manage integrated marketing communications campaigns aligned with the company's growth goals.

    + Passionate about the learning landscape with experience around building a strong narrative. + Ability to influence across a matrixed organization and work effectively with all levels of management.

    + Demonstrated success crafting substantive and cohesive messages for an organization, which has been successfully communicated to key audiences and resulted in measurable difference.

    Requirements + BS or BA Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field, or equivalent experience + 5+ years experience in a media relations and marketing communications roles, preferably with experience at a publicly traded company in a regulated field.

    + Strong sense of responsibility and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision. + Strong influencing and organization skills. + Impeccable written and oral communication skills. + Ability to listen and receive direction well.

    + Tech company experience and/or consumer story telling experience Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State, and NYC-based and Remote Roles, AIP (Annual Incentive Plan) eligible: Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.

    As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
    The minimum full-time salary range is between $90,000 - $95,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program, and information on benefits offered is here.
