    Rooter Plumbing of Virginia Beach & Northern Virginia has an opening for an accounting and payroll manager that will provide leadership and oversight of the administrative functions including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and accounting functions.

    This position is the administrative cornerstone of this company for payroll and accounting processes.

    Our office hub provides a quality customer experience, supported by a quality, and fully engaged workforce which is led by the person in this 'hands-on' position.

    This position is fluid and all-encompassing and may vary, depending on the needs of the company at any given time.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Position Overview:

    The Payroll and Accounting role will be responsible for managing the company's payroll processes, accounts receivable and payable processes, maintaining accurate records, and supporting financial reporting activities.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, experience with accounts receivable and payable functions, and excellent attention to detail.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Accounts Receivable:
    Generate and send invoices to customers in a timely manner.

    Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on past due accounts.

    Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.

    Process customer payments, including checks, credit card payments, and electronic transfers.

    Prepare and distribute periodic accounts receivable reports for management review.


    Accounts Payable:
    Receive and review vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness.

    Code invoices to the appropriate accounts and cost centers.

    Process vendor payments via check, ACH, or wire transfer.

    Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies or outstanding balances.

    Maintain vendor records and files, including contact information and payment terms.


    General Accounting:
    Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

    Prepare and analyze various financial reports, such as aging schedules, cash flow projections, and budget variance analysis.

    Support external audits and provide documentation as needed.

    Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements.


    Communication and Collaboration:
    Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing and payment issues.

    Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders regarding accounts receivable and payable matters.

    Provide support and assistance to other members of the finance team as needed.


    Payroll:
    Complete weekly payroll for all departments.

    Complete reconciliation reports to verify payroll accuracy.

    Complete weekly payroll reporting.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

    Proven experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting roles.

    Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.

    Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

    Effective communication and people skills.

    Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
