- Reconciling MSC accounts and ensures all Coast Guard's financial records are accurate, timely and reliable by using the CG's Financial System.
- Initiating, developing, and recommending acquisition policies and procedures for the guidance and day-to-day procurement activities at the MSC.
- Conducting evaluations to determine program adequacy, providing technical surveillance, recommending changes to improve problematic program areas, and developing local guidance, for MSC.
- Preparing, executing, and performing oversight of all contract functions at the MSC, responsible for contract performance and processing, procurements, training coordination, and other various functions.
- Serving as the MSC COR responsible for the development, oversight, control, and evaluation of contracts utilized to procure services and supplies in support of the MSC's mission.
- Interfacing with higher contracting authority staff to establish and maintain open lines of communication for collecting, organizing, analyzing, simulating, and two-way exchange of pertinent contract-related guidance/data information.

Summary
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Commandant, Vice Commandant, Deputy Commandant for Operations, Commercial Regulations & Standards Directorate, Marine Safety Center (MSC), Washington, DC.
Duties
You will serve as a Contract Support Specialist at the MSC, responsible for providing functions and services to the MSC for all aspects of financial management for a budget of approximately $1 million, including budget development and execution, procurement, oversight, and analysis of contracts. You will also serve as the unit's Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for MSC's contracts, and monitor, analyze and evaluate a variety of MSC financial services such as purchases, travel, budget, and to formulate and recommend improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of these financial functions.
