    Denver Academy in Denver, Colorado seeks a Director of Development for the school year.

    Type:
    Director of Development – Full-Time – Senior Administration

    Degree:
    Bachelor's Degree or Higher
    The salary range for the Director of Development position is $125,000 - $150,000.

    You may enroll in Denver Academy's benefit program if you are classified as a full-time employee and have completed the eligibility waiting period of 30 days.

    Coverage will begin the first of the month following 30 days of employment.


    The benefits package includes:
    medical/dental/vision insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, short/long term disability insurance, life insurance, holiday/vacation pay, and sick leave. Benefits are subject to current Denver Academy policies.

    osition Description:
    Oversees all areas of development including planning, coordination, implementation, and management of all fundraising activities.

    Advises the Head of School regarding overall department and organizational goals, objectives, programs, policies, and procedures, whenever fundraising / stewardship or related activities are involved.

    Responsible for ensuring adherence with all compliance issues regarding fundraising activities, record keeping, data collection and destruction, reporting, audit requirements, etc.

    Implements and manages Denver Academy's development program with emphasis on the following areas:
    Capital Gifts
    Major Gifts
    Annual Gifts
    Endowment Gifts
    Planned Gifts

    Responsibilities:
    Development Office
    Supervises, trains, and manages Development Office staff.

    Develops in coordination with the Development staff and the Development Committee chair, the annual strategic focus for the Development Office; oversees its implementation and evaluation.

    Attends Board of Trustee meetings and Board Retreats.
    Serves on the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees
    Serves as or appoints development team member as the SAT liaison to the Denver Academy Parent Association (DAPA)
    Prepares and manages the Development Office Budget
    Responsible for the wealth screening program and confidentiality/compliance of data collection, access, and destruction.

    Member of the Crisis Prevention & Response Team and other committees or teams as designated by the Head of School.

    Capital / Endowment Campaigns
    With direction from the Board and the Head of School, coordinates the development of a comprehensive campus campaign plan.
    Provides leadership for implementing the campaign activity, procedures, and timelines, including selecting and serving as contact with campaign company.
    Major Gifts

    With assistance from the Board of Trustees, Head of School, Senior Administrative Team, and the Development Office staff; coordinates a major gift program.

    Endowment – reconcile valuation of each named fund with the Business Office and ensure donor intent is honored.

    Track gifts and grants for tuition assistance with the Director of Grants & Stewardship and reconcile amounts with the Director of Finance at the end of each fiscal year.

    Determines how much money, beyond operating funds, is available for tuition assistance for upcoming year.
    Major donor research; manage donor search relationship; conduct research on major donor prospects.
    Annual Gifts
    With assistance from parent volunteers, develops an Annual Fund campaign strategy and implements with the volunteers.

    Day-to-day oversight of annual fund program to assure the smooth and effective functioning of the program throughout the school year.

    Endowment Gifts

    Plans and implements an Endowment Program at DA, including establishing and following policies that represent the best practices in independent schools.

    Planned Gifts

    Responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of a planned giving program in partnership with the Chair of the Legacy Society.

    General

    Maintains regular communication with the Head of School, Development Committee Chair, and Development Office staff to ensure that everyone is fully informed about the fundraising progress.

    Reports quarterly to the Board of Trustees on progress towards accomplishing the goal set out in the Development Office's plan.

    Works with the Head of School to maximize his/her involvement in fundraising.
    Works closely with the PR & Marketing, Admissions, Finance and Financial Aid offices / programs.

    Communicates with and manages the stock donations with the Denver Academy stock broker in partnership with the Director of Finance.

    Collaborates with the PR & Marketing staff, along with the Development office staff to create and execute the Gratitude Report.

    Other responsibilities may be added by the Head of School, as needed.
