    Summary

    The Donor Relations Assistant will support the administrative needs of the Development Department. This position works directly with the Development Operations Manager to manage meetings and events.

    The Assistant is responsible for supporting efforts which engage and build strong, long-term relationships with donors and other important internal and external constituents.

    Roles & Responsibilities


    • Embraces and participates in the advancement of the JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion) mission and vision of the organization.
    • Collaborate with the Development Operations Manager to assist with the planning and execution of Overture's major donor stewardship event, including managing RSVPs, assisting in dcor, and catering decisions, managing follow-up email calendar, and create email correspondence through WordFly.
    • Organize donor stewardship and cultivation events, send invites, and track RSVPs. Coordinate with key internal stakeholders on all donor stewardship events.
    • Advance the strategic goals of the organization by supporting activities which increase contributed revenue.
    • Provide accurate and timely record keeping in Tessitura. Assist in database management, including updating donor records, and act as backup for gift entry and list management.
    • Coordinate tax receipt and acknowledgment process in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Execute the Annual Fund Renewal and Acquisition activities in partnership with the Development Operations Manager.
    • Provide high level customer service to donors. Answer questions and administer donor benefits in a timely and professional manner.
    • Assist Chief Development Officer and Director of Individual Giving by managing calendars, scheduling, and coordinating meetings.
    • Provide support for donor meeting materials including creating proposals, agreements, meeting materials, and recording meeting notes in Tessitura.
    • Participate in professional development by participating in professional associations, seminars, training, and self-directed research/study including Equity and Innovation learning to bring JEDI awareness into practice.
    • Perform additional tasks as required.

    Qualifications

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


    Education & Experience:

    • One to three years of related professional, progressive experience in an administrative role. Preferred understanding of fundraising/ development and non-profits.
    • Associate degree or equivalent in education/experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Proficient with database management and Microsoft Office suite. Preferred knowledge of Tessitura or Raiser's Edge databases.
    • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multitask, and stay organized while coordinating multiple projects/events.
    Working Conditions

    • Primarily perform work in an office environment
    • Frequently move around the building and access or use computers, office equipment, telephone, and any other pertinent supplies, space, or equipment used to perform the duties of the position.
    • Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day.
    • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Required to work on a computer 5-8 hours per day. Ability to work nights and weekends 10-20% of the time, including potentially long hours during critical periods such as special events.
