    Job Opening: Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)

    Location: Phoenix, AZ
    Employment Type: Part-Time or Full-Time
    Start Date: August 1, 2024
    End Date: May 23, 2025
    Caseload: Based on full or part-time status
    Population: High School students with multiple disabilities, ranging from General Education classes to cognitive disabilities and medically fragile conditions.

    Position Overview:
    We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team in Phoenix, AZ, for the school year. The TVI will provide specialized instruction and support services to high school students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities. This position offers the flexibility of either part-time or full-time employment, depending on the candidate's preference.

    Requirements:

    • Certification through the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
    • Current IVP (Identity Verified Prints) fingerprint clearance card
    • Demonstrated experience as a TVI case manager, including writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and providing specialized instruction and services
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills
    • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments and other disabilities
    • Positive and compassionate attitude towards students with diverse learning needs
    • Good references attesting to your professional skills and commitment to student success

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement individualized educational plans for students with visual impairments, taking into account their unique learning needs, abilities, and goals
    • Provide direct instruction and support services to students in various educational settings, including General Education classrooms, resource rooms, and specialized programs
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and parents to ensure the effective inclusion and participation of students with visual impairments in the academic curriculum and school community
    • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' visual functioning, academic progress, and assistive technology needs
    • Provide consultation and training to school staff and parents on strategies for supporting students with visual impairments in the classroom and at home
    • Advocate for the educational rights and needs of students with visual impairments, ensuring access to appropriate accommodations, materials, and resources
    • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, attendance, and services provided
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to visual impairment and special education

    Schedule:
    The schedule will vary based on part-time or full-time status, aligned with the school's academic calendar and instructional hours.
