    Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
    Location: Phoenix, AZ
    Start Date: August 1, 2024
    End Date: May 23, 2025
    Hours: Full-Time

    Job Description: We are currently seeking a qualified and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our educational team in Phoenix, AZ for the school year. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, ensuring they have access to a high-quality education and the tools they need to succeed.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of visually impaired students.
    • Provide direct instruction and support in both academic and daily living skills.
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other support staff to adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials.
    • Utilize and instruct students in the use of assistive technologies and braille.
    • Conduct assessments to determine students' levels of functional vision and educational needs.
    • Advocate for the needs and rights of visually impaired students within the school community.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in IEP meetings.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in the field of visual impairment education.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related field.
    • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
    • Experience working with visually impaired students is preferred.
    • Proficiency in braille and knowledge of assistive technologies.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Dedication to promoting the educational and personal growth of visually impaired students.
