Position Information
Under general direction, manages the day-to-day operations of the Sober 24 program and provides operational and programmatic support for the Department of Alternative Sentencing; and performs related work as required.
This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Department of Alternative Sentencing. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

Area of Assignment
The mission of the Washoe County Department of Alternative Sentencing (DAS) is to increase safety in the community by reducing recidivism among criminal offenders, through a rehabilitative environment that includes accountability for offenses, opportunities for gaining and applying life skills, and sanctions for regressive behaviors. As part of this mission, DAS operates the regional drug testing facility under the name Sober 24. Sober 24 is responsible for the collection and chemical analysis of urine and oral fluid, for the purpose of illicit drug detection utilizing an in-house chemical analyzer. Participants ordered to Sober 24 often face legal challenges and the results generated can have substantial impacts on their civil liberties, thus the assurance of good laboratory practices and accurate reporting are of critical importance. The DAS Program Manager will oversee all aspects of the Sober 24 program, assist in the development and implementation of new programs, and provide overall operational support to the department.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social work, organizational management, public administration, business administration or a related field AND two years of full-time experience in program administration to include one year of full-time supervisory experience and one year of full-time experience with grants administration or budget development; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
License Or Certificate
A valid driver's license may be required at the time of appointment.
The Ideal Candidate Will
The Washoe County Employees Association (WCEA) Supervisory covers the DAS Program Manager position.
Background checks will be conducted on selected applicants through the State of Nevada and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Per the Washoe County Background and Reference Checks Policy, new and rehired employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation. Effective July 1, 2019, the $40.25 fee associated with this background investigation will be paid by the employee (if applicable) and deducted automatically from the first paycheck. Employment is contingent upon the results of the background check, although a record of conviction will not necessarily bar an applicant from employment.
Washoe County requires its employees to reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe or Susanville as of their first day of work.
Washoe County hires all new employees at the minimum rate of the salary range and eligible employees may receive an annual merit increase of 5% until they reach the maximum salary for the classification. Upon promotion, current Washoe County employees are placed at the minimum rate of the salary range for the higher classification of the new position OR a promotional calculation, whichever is greater.

This exam will be administered and proctored in Reno, NV on the above scheduled date and you must be present to test.
