    The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.


    The primary purpose of the Program Coordinator is to plan, implement and direct the New Hire Orientation Program, Radiation Oncology Administrative Initiatives and Faculty Development Program by working closely with the Department Chair, Department Administrator and completing a broad variety of complex of administrative tasks.

    The Program Coordinator will maintain professional and cooperative relationships and interact with a variety of executive level healthcare and academic professionals.


    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
    Coordinate Radiation Oncology New Hire Orientation

    Responsible for training and development of new hires and ensures goal setting is completed and aligned to departmental strategies. Uses independent judgement to ensure appropriateness of orientation duration, content, logistics, and communications. Uses independent problem solving and superb time management skills to facilitate more than 20 new hires per year. Develops and supports comprehensive program for faculty recruitment.

    Develop Radiation Oncology Administrative Initiatives

    Works collaboratively with the operations team to manage education and training programs. Builds relationship across all divisions at MD Anderson, managing, and updating essential contacts lists.

    Maintains a working knowledge across MD Anderson education programs, calendar of events and numerous resources, in order to proactively offer ideas that will benefit the education or integration of a new hire.

    Prepares and administers feedback surveys and discusses results with Department Chair to determine next steps. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of institutional guidelines, policies, and processes around new hires of all types. Identifies and implements strategies to improve operational efficiency within the department.

    Oversee Radiation Oncology Faculty Development Program

    Develops and supports faculty mentorship program. Designs processes and quantitative tools to monitor faculty academic and clinical performance. Analyzes data and prepares quarterly faculty development reports for Department Chair. Responsible for collecting, developing, and assessing content of presentations for departmental faculty meetings and section chief meetings.

    Special Projects Supports Department Chair in development of process improvement projects related to institutional, divisional, or departmental initiatives. Assumes final responsibility for the integrity of projects and engages appropriate stakeholders for feedback as appropriate.

    Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with Radiation Oncology and other experts throughout the organization and institutional leadership to assure the advancement of multidisciplinary operational projects and programs.

    Prepare and communicate programmatic status reports to Radiation Oncology leadership.

    Education

    Required:
    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.


    Preferred:
    Master's degree.

    Experience

    Required:
    Three years project/program coordination experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
