Departmental Objective:The David Student Union at Christopher Newport University goal is to offer exceptional meeting and event accommodations, support the personal and academic development of the university community, and expand the reach of the university to the local, regional, and national spotlight.
Purpose of the Position:This position will ensure the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing various housekeeping tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning supplies
Ability to operate cleaning equipment
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., tolerate frequent bending, stooping, and climbing stairs
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain positive relations with faculty, staff and students
Skilled in the use of housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner, buffers, and scrubbing machine
Experience: Experience in cleaning methods and cleaning supplies. Experience in housekeeping work.
Additional Consideration(s):Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Demonstrated experience as a housekeeping worker at a college/university.
