    I. JOB OVERVIEW


    Job Description Summary:
    The Department of Epidemiology, GWU Milken Institute School of Public Health, is seeking a Program Manager.

    The Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating and assisting in management of the Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Public Health Microbiology & Emerging Infection Diseases (MS PHMEID) programs in the Department of Epidemiology.

    This position reports to the Associate Program Director and will collaborate with other Program Directors for the MPH and MS PHMEID programs as well as the Vice Chair for Educational Activities.

    The Program Manager provides coordination and program management.

    The employee serves as a point of contact and will answer questions from faculty, staff, and students, provides functional support and assists in the management for the program administration.

    Functional support includes answering external inquiries, enrollment guidance and basic academic advising, drafting program materials, managing course evaluations, developing new programming, planning and executing events, tracking spending and processing payments, assisting with fellowship and grant opportunities, preparing and analyzing reports, and similar duties.

    Makes recommendations to policy and procedure, and assists in maintaining standard operational efficiencies, managing web presence and marketing efforts.

    Typical duties often are administrative in nature, and are under limited supervision or are independent of more senior personnel within the department, or program.


    The core duties include:

    Advises students, assists with scheduling, and manages evaluations for the applied practice experience and field lab experience, and culminating experience.

    This includes final projects requirement(s). The Program Manager meets regularly with students to assess academic needs.

    Manages and processes student professional enhancement forms, assists with student advising and student records documents Develops and/or manages student program milestones (including identification of a faculty advisors, submission of required deliverables, practicum plans and evaluations).

    Coordinates career development activities and departmental career advising to students in coordination with School Career Services, promotes opportunities and activities through multiple communication channels.

    Assist in coordination of department seminar series, including but not limited to scheduling, promotion, and collection of on-line survey results.

    Assists in planning, curriculum development, course management, and tracking online skills building module.

    Manages evaluation data collection for practice activities and provides feedback to faculty, collaborate with site preceptors, and present recommendations to the Vice Chair for improvement.

    Creates, documents, maintains student departmental policies and procedures manual.
    Supports department communication by managing distribution lists, assisting with department website updates, coordinating submissions to department newsletter.
    Manages student research award process and promotes student awards and achievements.
    Engages site preceptors annually for feedback and process evaluation.

    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study.

    Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Master's degree in public health or related field with a scientific background.

    Three years of relevant post-graduate experience working in a public health or educational setting in the United States or globally.

    Strong interest in public health graduate-level educational activities.
    Excellent organizational skills.
    Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office Suite applications and internet resources.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Typical Hiring Range
    $57, $79,165.63
