- Manage the ACS-Hach Teacher Scholarship Programs: ACS-Hach Land Grant Scholarships, ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarships, and ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarships This includes program administration activities such as strategic planning, monitoring, partnership management; fund agreement negotiation, issuance, and compliance; and accurate and timely distribution of funds.
- Lead and collaborate with ACS internal stakeholder groups (Marketing, Office of Philanthropy, Research and Data Support) to advance program priorities. This includes establishing and launching marketing campaigns to build program awareness and promote program initiatives.
- Maintain accurate constituent records across a range of database systems (including Salesforce and the ACS Awards portal), including the ability to extract, manipulate and analyze complex datasets, ensure accurate and timely disbursement of scholarship funds, leverage data to drive programmatic direction, and produce program performance reports as required.
- Conduct 2-3 regional site visits annually to ACS-Hach Land Grant institutional partners.
- Collaborate with ACS internal partners (e.g., Office of Higher Education, ACS Bridge, and Get the Facts Out Project) to advance divisional and organizational initiatives that support chemistry faculty and chemistry majors.
- Create and engage a student community made up of ACS-Hach Program scholars from across all cohorts with informational webinars, networking opportunities, and other activities.
- Assist Portfolio Manager with other aspects of ACS-Hach Program and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelors degree in chemistry or STEM-related discipline.
- 7+ years of related experience in program management with experience in scholarship and grant administration preferred.
- Prior success communicating both verbally and in writing and building relationships with diverse groups.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail are a necessity.
- Creative problem-solving skills and good judgment to support the ability to work with a high level of independence in executing role requirements is required.
- Advanced technical knowledge with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, relational database systems (e.g., Salesforce) with the aptitude to easily learn and apply computer-based tools are a necessity.

The mission of the ACS Education Division is to provide contemporary chemistry education through resources, programs, and professional development that support excellence in teaching and learning and build informed communities. The Division provides programs, products, and services for leaners and educators at a broad range of educational and career stages.
Position Summary
The ACS-Hach Programs support the professional growth, development, and practice of current and future teachers of chemistry through scholarships, grants, and mentoring opportunities. The Program Manager for ACS-Hach Programs will manage and provide strategic direction for the pre-service scholarship programs: ACS-Hach Land Grant Scholarships, ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarships, and ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarships. This includes growing the programs, building a scholar and alumni community, and engaging chemistry faculty to support students interested in becoming secondary chemistry teachers. The position reports to the Portfolio Manager of the ACS-Hach Programs.
Work Design
Demonstrates creativity and ingenuity to perform assignments and create solutions. Demonstrates increased comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures associated with scholarship administration and program management. Nature of work includes identifying problems and providing solutions to resolve a variety of complex issues. Decision making involves setting priorities, evaluating results, and collaborating with others to formulate, interpret, policies or organizational practices to provide recommendations and solutions. Position requires 15 – 20% travel.

Position Summary
This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
