    Senior Marketing Manager, User Experience

    About the position:
    (First Book has a hybrid work environment. This is not a 100% remote position)

    The User Experience team manages communication, marketing, and on-site UI for First Book's network of over 575,000 educators supporting children from low-income communities in school and program settings across the country.

    Guided by human-centered research and design, the User Experience team develops, supports, and executes programs and multi-channel revenue-driving marketing campaigns to promote the resources and services available for our members.

    The team supports First Book's mission by developing organizational strategies to grow the First Book Network, engage and activate its member base, foster a sense of community among members, and distribute books and resources to kids through their educators.

    The Senior Marketing Manager is a passionate customer advocate, ensuring that our network remains at the center of everything we do.

    They are a Google Analytics whiz who gathers data, spots trends, and creates narratives to inform multi-channel marketing strategies, marketing technology pilots, cross-functional programmatic design, and on-site enhancements for the First Book Marketplace.

    They work closely with the Senior Director, User Experience and with First Book's IT department to support implementing those initiatives.

    The Senior Marketing Manager uses data analysis and industry best practices to ensure that First Book members can easily navigate each step of their user journey—including awareness, creating their membership account, utilizing the First Book Marketplace, and engaging as a loyal advocate for our community.

    They lead First Book's Search Engine Optimization strategy and implementation to drive awareness and usage of First Book's resources and opportunities.

    Analytics & Reporting

    – Build reports to analyze and inform educator-facing marketing campaigns and strategies, including ROI and areas for opportunity. Requires developing an intimate knowledge of First Book's data sources, including member account data, First Book Marketplace sales data (using Salesforce), and behavioral data (including strong proficiency in Google Analytics). Use data to communicate and present clear and digestible reports, analysis, and narratives to First Book's leadership and other teams to help drive decision making at the executive level and in the day-to-day work of First Book staff.


    Multi-Channel Marketing & SEO

    – Coordinate with the Senior Director to guide strategy, segmentation, and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns to grow the First Book Network and drive Marketplace revenue. Leverage First Book's member and multi-channel campaign performance data to maximize the impact of these programs and funding distributions. Lead First Book's Search Engine Optimization strategy and implementation (using SEMrush) in coordination with paid search campaigns to drive awareness and usage of First Book's resources and opportunities. Support communication asset creation for campaigns and initiatives, as needed.


    First Book Marketplace UX/UI

    – The Senior Marketing Manager is the liaison to First Book IT for both the User Experience team and the larger Network Engagement department. Gather requirements, engage stakeholders, calculate costs and revenue, usher through any technology needs for the department, including maintenance and improvements to the on-site UX/UI of the First Book Marketplace. Regularly incorporate member feedback to ensure the First Book Marketplace site reflects educator needs and is an optimal digital experience for members and prospects. Responsible for updates to First Book's online registration system, managing demographic and programmatic data collected through member account creation (Salesforce), and reporting on this data to other First Book teams.


    Evaluation & Implementation of New Marketing Technologies

    – Manage and provide technical leadership for First Book's existing SEO and Google Analytics platforms. Lead evaluation and implementation of new marketing technologies and tools. To be successful in this process, the Senior Marketing Manager should understand and follow industry trends, gather buy-in from internal stakeholders, develop business cases to show potential ROI, coordinate demos and proposals from potential vendors, outline evaluation criteria, negotiate pricing, conduct usability testing, and work with vendors and First Book's IT team on implementation.

    Education and/or Experience:

    5+ years of work experience in digital marketing required


    Data analytics and revenue-based campaign performance evaluation experience required


    Business case development or product onboarding experience required


    Google Analytics experience/certification required


    SEO strategy development and hands-on implementation required


    Proficiency with CRM software required (reporting, data management), Salesforce experience preferred


    Pardot, Constant Contact, Marketing Cloud, or similar marketing platform experience a plus


    Photoshop or Canva experience a plus
