- Collaborate with mechanical engineering team to design plumbing systems for various projects, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.
- Create detailed plumbing plans, layouts, and schematics using CAD software.
- Select appropriate materials and equipment for plumbing installations, considering factors such as budget, project requirements, and sustainability.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing plumbing systems, identify potential issues, and provide recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate plumbing designs with overall building plans.
- Perform calculations and simulations to analyze hydraulic systems, pipe sizing, and pressure requirements.
- Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and regulations related to plumbing design and ensure designs meet all applicable requirements.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
- 2+ years of plumbing design experience
- Proficient in AutoCAD or Revit
- Familiarity with codes, standards, and best practices
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Top-notch organization, attention to detail combined with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- CPD certification
- Experience in green building or energy efficiency projects, such as LEED, ENERGY STAR, or USGBC
- PE License

MEI has a job opportunity for a Mechanical Designer with a background in Plumbing Design to be an integral member of our Mechanical design team. The scope of projects will include data centers, industrial buildings, offices, and other high-profile construction projects. This role will be highly collaborative amongst MEI staff, clients, vendors, and external disciplines. MEI is committed to providing opportunities for professional development and growth.
