Position Overview:
- The General Maintenance Manager supervises, oversees, and directs the activities of maintenance personnel that are responsible for performing general maintenance work on City buildings, facilities, and grounds. This position will be responsible for the full range of supervisory activities.

Ability to Travel:
- If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin
Driver Safety Program you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise you are responsible for for getting to and from these locations. - This position will regularly travel to Austin Water's treatment plants, service centers, lift stations, remote facilities, and other AW locations as part of the routine duties and responsibilities.

Effective October 1, 2014, all Austin Water worksite locations are tobacco-free. Use of tobacco products and/or e-cigarettes is not permitted on any AW worksite - including construction sites, parking lots, garages or in any personal vehicle located on the premises.

- $ $44.67

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
- Background in leading or supervising a facility maintenance team in a utility, municipality, or other similarly regulated entity and a certification such as Building Operator Certification, Facility Management Professional, Certified Facility Manager, Certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or trade specific licensure or certifications, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
- Experience in leading facility maintenance activities including general maintenance and repairs, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades, and leading minor refresh/renovation projects, sustainability principles, and computer maintenance or work order systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with various levels of internal customers, stakeholders, and the public; and an ability to develop relationships with customers by resolving differences and conflict.
- Resultsdriven, detail oriented, anticipate issues, with the ability to effectively develop solutions, multitask and work independently in an environment with frequent interruptions and under pressure.
- Ability to travel to more than one work location
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

- Develops and revises operating procedures.
- Assists in long and short range planning affecting building maintenance programs and staffing.
- Compiles data for reports, etc. for City management personnel.
