    About the Role

    Reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Lived Experience (DELEX) is a strategic leadership role within the Human Resources team. This role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive DELEX strategy that advances LifeMoves' mission and vision. This role will champion lived experience initiatives, ensuring the voices and perspectives of those with direct experience with homelessness are embedded throughout the organization.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop and Lead DELEX Strategy
      • Partner with the Vice President of HR and senior leadership team to define and integrate DELEX into LifeMoves' overall strategic goals.
      • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of LifeMoves' current DELEX landscape, identifying strengths, opportunities for improvement, and areas for lived experience integration.
      • Develop and implement a multi-year DELEX plan with measurable objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress.
    • Lead and Oversee DELEX Initiatives
      • Lead the development and implementation of data driven DELEX programs across all aspects of LifeMoves, including talent acquisition, talent management, programming, client services, and community engagement.
      • Champion lived experience initiatives, ensuring the voices of clients and staff with experience with homelessness are integrated into all aspects of the DELEX strategy. This includes creating opportunities for lived experience representation on committees, program design, and leadership positions.
      • Manage and collaborate with internal teams, including HR, and external teams such as consultants and trainers, to support the implementation of DELEX initiatives.
      • Serve as staff liaison to the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee and to internal and external Lived Experience Advisory Boards.
    • Promote a Culture of Inclusion & Lived Experience Integration
      • Partner with HR and leadership teams to foster a welcoming and inclusive work environment for all employees, regardless of background, identity, or lived experience.
      • Champion unconscious bias training, cultural competency workshops, and other initiatives that promote inclusive behaviors and practices across all levels of the organization, integrating the perspectives of those with lived experience.
      • Oversee and empower Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), serving as a strategic advisor and championing their goals and initiatives, with a particular focus on integrating lived experience representation.
      • Develop and implement strategies to increase lived experience representation throughout the organization, including recruitment, leadership development, and program design.
    • Data, Measurement, and Reporting
      • Develop and implement a comprehensive system for collecting and analyzing DELEX data, including data specific to lived experience integration.
      • Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of DELEX programs and initiatives, using data to demonstrate progress towards goals and inform continuous improvement.
      • Develop and deliver reports on DELEX progress and outcomes to the Vice President of HR, senior leadership team, and the Board of Directors.
    • Thought Leadership and Communication
      • Serve as a thought leader on DELEX issues, particularly relating to lived experience integration, staying up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in the field.
      • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to keep staff, clients, the broader community, and donors informed and engaged in DELEX efforts, highlighting the importance of lived experience voices.
      • Partner with marketing to develop DELEX-related content for internal and external communications, ensuring lived experience narratives are amplified.
    • Compliance and Advocacy
      • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local diversity and inclusion laws and regulations.
      • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that promote a fair and equitable work environment for all employees, integrating considerations for lived experience.
      • Develop and lead external partnerships with organizations focused on lived experience, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
    Desired Skills and Abilities:
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex DELEX concepts to diverse audiences, both internally and externally.
    • Strategic understanding of DELEX best practices and emerging trends: Demonstrated knowledge of cutting-edge approaches to diversity, equity, inclusion, and lived experience integration.
    • Expert understanding of federal, state, and local DELEX laws and regulations: Comprehensive knowledge of legal requirements related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and lived experience in the workplace.
    • Exceptional organizational skills and project management proficiency: Ability to manage multiple complex DELEX initiatives and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful completion.
    • Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze DELEX data, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions to advance DELEX goals.
    • Bilingual skills in languages relevant to the client population a strong plus.
    Education and Experience:
    • Master's degree in Human Resources, Public Policy, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
    • Seven or more years of experience in human resources, social services, or a related field with a minimum of five years focused on leading and managing comprehensive DELEX programs preferred.
    • Proven track record of developing, implementing, and evaluating successful DELEX initiatives, with a specific focus on lived experience integration.
    • Demonstrated experience working with and advocating for populations experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.
    • Certifications in DELEX or related fields (e.g., Diversity & Inclusion Certificate) a strong plus.
