    Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Specialist (Academic)

    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    The Office of Faculty Affairs and Diversity Equity & Inclusion in the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) is seeking a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Specialist. The successful candidate will support HHD's broad DEIB goals and the work being carried out in the office.

    Job Responsibilities

    Work directly with and provide support to underrepresented undergraduates through individual and group meetings.

    Create, implement, and facilitate enrichment and community engagement activities and programming for underrepresented students.

    Represent HHD when communicating with internal and external stakeholders concerning recruitment and retention matters.

    Assist with coordinating retention activities and programs for underrepresented students within the college.

    Prepare various reports related to enrollment and graduation data, composition of student populations, and completion rates.

    Assist the Assistant Dean with the development of strategic objectives and the implementation of initiatives to accomplish objectives.

    Work with the College's web designers to create and maintain a strong web print and social media presence for the office.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    This position will be filled as a level 2 or 3, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher, plus one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.

    An ideal candidate will be:

    Organized and able to manage and prioritize tasks, set deadlines, and manage time efficiently.

    Self-motivated and driven by internal motivation to complete tasks and achieve goals without constant supervision.

    Being aware of and sensitive to cultural backgrounds, identities, and experiences of underrepresented students.

    Resourceful in finding solutions, overcoming challenges and being able to connect students with appropriate resources and support services important to addressing their needs.

    Collaborative with office staff and others within the college and university.

    Committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within the college and greater PSU community.
