DESCRIPTION
This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt, day shift position that reports to the Director of Education.


The Behavior Specialist is a member of the classroom team, helping support the skill development of each student within the classroom and on their caseload.

The behavior specialist works in partnership with the credentialed classroom teacher and the supervising behavior support team member.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a member and partner to a classroom team serving students with complex special education needs.
  • Work with students to support behavioral and educational goals in accordance with Teacher's directions.
  • Collect, input, and analyze data and metrics on student progress on behavior goals in student IEP's and BIP's.
  • Develop, maintain, and support positive behavioral practices to promote skill development.
  • Review incident reports and all behavior data on a regular basis to insure that behavior plans are actively being implemented in the classrooms and that student safety is a top priority.
  • Participate in debriefings of difficult or unusual incidents.
  • Provide training in behavior theory and approaches to AchieveKids' staff, families, and transportation staff.
  • Successfully complete all aspects of Safety-Care training; be prepared to implement all techniques and maintain certification. Train other staff members in the principles of Safety-Care.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Continuing coursework towards Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst certification (BCaBA), or Master's degree in related field of study including Behavior Analysis is preferred
  • Experience supporting youth with severe behavioral, developmental, and emotional difficulties in community settings.
  • Valid California Driver's License and Clean California DMV record required
  • TB Clearance
  • DOJ Background check clearance
