The ideal candidate will reside in or around Waltham, MA.
When you're part of the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll do important work, like helping customers find cures for cancer, protecting the environment, or ensuring our food is safe.
How you'll make an impact:
In this role, you will join our Instrument and Enterprise Services (IES) team as part of our Unity Lab Services (ULS) brand, which provides integrated solutions, instrument, and enterprise services to our valued customers.
As such, Field Service Engineers are provided with a Fleet vehicle to allow for daily travel to multiple customer locations in their defined service area.
Some overnight travel will be expected to service customers and participate in training programs.You will handle various aspects of field service support and customer relationships within our Laboratory Equipment (LE) division.
You will provide advanced services on laboratory equipment, including repairs, preventative maintenance, installation, and instrument qualifications, as well as being an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific.
What you'll do:
Repair, install, and maintain a line of process water analysis instruments, and a variety of laboratory equipment products including incubators, centrifuges, cold storage (refrigerators and freezers), and other equipment as needed
Schedules and completes detailed preventative maintenance and corrective service to ensure peak uptime of customer equipment
Provide onsite service training to operators and site personnel
Submit expenses and manage trunk stock inventory in a timely and accurate manner
Document daily service actions through the company work order database
Maintains courteous and knowledgeable communication with customers to ensure alignment of all aspects of the service events (status, cost, scheduling, etc.)
How will you get there?
Education
Associate degree in Electronics or Engineering or High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 years of experience in analytical instruments
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, or Electromechanical Engineering preferred
EPA Certification preferred
Accredited trade school certification- HVAC/R or Electronic Technician preferred
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience in field service, Depot repair, manufacturing facilities or equivalent, servicing analytical instruments or laboratory equipment, etc.
Experience in customer-facing positions preferred.Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical background preferred, refrigeration experience a plus
Experience working with basic test equipment such as DMM, tachometer, and temperature devices, including hands-on refrigeration experience is preferred
Ability to operate computers, smartphones, and related software efficiently
Effective interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize multiple priorities with minimal direction
Ability to work independently diagnosing and solving using schematics, diagrams, service manuals, and other technical resources
