    Job Description:

    The Fine Arts Department seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member who is a passionate and dedicated painter and educator with recognized professional achievement, an exhibition record, and strong knowledge of teaching painting and drawing at the college level.

    The ideal candidate will excel in the instruction of painting and drawing from the foundation to advanced levels of undergraduate study in the BFA program. The candidate's work and teaching experience will demonstrate the ability to leverage a strong foundation in traditional artistic skills and practice as a platform for innovation. The successful candidate will possess the ability to share their extensive knowledge of art history, as well as current practices, approaches, and movements in contemporary art.

    The candidate should have a strong interest and motivation in the development and implementation of curriculum. Hybrid forms of creative and interdisciplinary inquiry that will connect to other areas in the Fine Arts Department and the college at large, are welcome. Specialization in a cross-cultural approach to curriculum development is encouraged.

    The team-oriented faculty member will serve in an active role in the Fine Arts Department in the areas of curriculum development, facility management, administrative responsibilities, and student mentorship, departmental activities and college-wide service. Candidates interested in departmental leadership roles are welcome.

    The ideal candidate should pursue community-building and professional activities such as curation, conferences, symposia, and affiliation with and participation in organizations of the discipline.

  • Demonstrate expertise and possess discipline-specific technology skills and demonstrate effective utilization of technology and software in fine arts to deliver course material and convey practical learning experiences to students.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with the college's safety officer and the department chair with regard to health and safety protocols and requirements, supporting safe and sustainable practices related to the painting and drawing studios.
  • Demonstrate interest and commitment in areas of emerging technologies in fine arts.

    Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • An MFA or equivalent terminal degree in the field is required.
  • Candidates should be a practicing artist with a minimum of three years of teaching experience in painting and drawing, at both foundation and upper division undergraduate levels.

    The final starting salary and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience; Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Salary Schedules pg. 72.

    Instructor: $59,673- $69,524
    Assistant Professor: $69,475- $102,388
    Associate Professor: $81,317- $122,427
    Professor: $99,159- $149,217
