Experience
I am currently a 3rd grade ELA teacher at Promise Academy II, in Harlem, New York. I am in my second year teaching 3rd grade English Language Arts to over 40 students. My commitment to academic achievement is integrated into actively leading students to be global citizens, and connecting their academic goals with socioemotional development. As an educator I believe it is paramount that collaboration with the full school community must be at the center of one's practice.
I have robust experience working with diverse student groups ranging in academic needs. During my time at Promise Academy, I have:
-Led grade team collaboration to streamline writing instruction utilizing HmH Into Reading Curriculum and TCRWP.
-Helped design grade level Guided Reading structures to support students in the areas of foundational skills and reading comprehension.
-Assessed students using Fountas and Pinnell IRL assessments, DIBELS, Grays Oral Reading Test, Reading Great Reading Advanced Decoding Survey, and The Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test.
Additionally, I hold a M.A. in Reading Instruction and a dual Reading Specialist certification from Loyola Marymount University, and I am currently in my last semester at CUNY Hunter earning a MSEd in Childhood Education. My strong organizational skills, attention to detail, culturally relevant pedagogical focus, and student centered practices, allows me to work with devotion and reliability.
