    Overall Position Summary and Objectives
    Provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services


    Deliverables:


    Work products and documents related to collaborating with staff on pre- and post-award activities, including the preparation of grant awards; assess grant applications to ascertain the allowability, allocability, reasonableness and consistency of recommended costs.

    - Daily

    Work products and documents related to responding to inquiries concerning grants management policies and procedures, status of individual awards; provide communication with NIH/NIGMS Program staff and NIGMS grantees.

    - Daily

    Work products and documents related to keeping abreast of current and new NIH policies and procedures affecting the smooth operation of the DEA.

    - Ad-Hoc

    Work products and documents related to maintaining official grant file(s); prepare electronic documents (convert to "PDF" images); upload images into the appropriate IMPAC II eAdditions file groups; interpret and apply business management policies, procedures and practices to grants-created situations.

    Work Details:
    Work with staff on pre- and post-award activities, including the preparation of grant awards.

    Prepare budgets for award in spreadsheet workbook, analyzing requested amounts based on allowability, allocability and reasonableness.

    Initiate correspondence to grantee institutions regarding grant-related questions and problems, clarification of policy and procedures, or requests for additional information.

    Communicate with appropriate Program Officer and Grantee Sponsored Research Administrator when questions arise.

    Provide advice, Assist staff interpret and prepare guidance interpretation and guidance on statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures as they related to the award grant program in general and as related to individual awards.

    Provides technical assistance developing and analyzing the organization's grant program.

    Assist staff to manage and coordinate develop and maintain annual grant portfolio, and provide administrative support for the Grants Management Branch for the review of grant applications, and resolve which involves a wide variety of problems and situations pertaining to the grant functions.

    Assist staff review annual grant progress reports and new grants for conformity to Institute policy, compliance with Federal regulations, and consistency with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

    Perform specialized tasks and ongoing responsibilities in support of grant programs, projects, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
    Assists with reviewing grant applications and preparing responses.
    Assist staff review and evaluate for accuracy and completeness competing and non-competing grant applications.
    Assist staff review grant applications for policy and regulatory compliance and report issues.
    Draft correspondence to address any administrative or management issues related to grant applications.
    Assists in analyzing and preparing reports to track status of awards and funding.
    Conduct administrative and financial review of grant applications.
    Prepare budgets for award in spreadsheet workbook, analyzing requested amounts based on allowability, allocability and reasonableness.
    Creates and maintains a database for grant activities.
    Maintain official grant file(s), prepare electronic documents and upload images directly into the appropriate IMPAC II eGrants file groups.
    Create or edit documents such as spreadsheets, correspondence, template forms, terms package and reports.
    Performs queries, conducts analysis and produces reports.
    Provides support and routine updates to staff.
    Apprise staff of issues and problems that could cause grant awards to be late or delayed.
    Collaborate with staff to use guidelines and policies for specific situations utilizing NIA, NIH and HHS grants administration sources.
    Provide advice to program staff, applicants and grantees on administrative and business management issues.
    Identifies grants that are ready for final processing.
    Collect and assemble documentation on grant applications that have been selected for funding for review and approval.
    Reviews and assembles completed documentation and identifies pending issues or changes.
    Resolve grant-related issues, working with scientific and administrative personnel and with similar staff of grantee organizations.
    Develops procedures for the grant review and approval process.
    Pull and analyze data from existing systems to monitor grant workloads.
    Collaborate with staff on pre- and post-award activities, including the preparation of grant awards
    Assess grant applications to ascertain the allowability, allocability, reasonableness and consistency of recommended costs
    Respond to inquiries concerning grants management policies and procedures, status of individual awards, on a one on-one basis
    Provide communication with NIHNIGMS Program staff and NIGMS grantees
    Keep abreast of current and new NIH policies and procedures affecting the smooth operation of the Division of Extramural Activities DEA, NIGMS
    Maintain official grant files; prepare electronic documents convert to PDF images; upload images directly into the appropriate IMPAC II eAdditions file groups
    Interpret and apply business management policies, procedures and practices to grants-created situations.
