Duties:

As a Travel Management Specialist, some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Provides expert advice and guidance in travel management policies and procedures. Interprets travel-related regulations and policies at the federal, departmental, and agency levels; develops, maintains, and ensures compliance with relevant operating policies, procedures, and guidelines; and responds to policy-related questions from all levels of the agency. Coordinates and provides training to Headquarters and agency-wide staff regarding travel management.
  • Processes Headquarters travel documents. Audits temporary duty travel authorizations and vouchers; prepares and processes relocation orders and vouchers, including counseling employees and coordinating with relocation companies; processes relocation taxes; and assists with travel transaction reconciliation and error resolution activities in the automated travel system and financial system. Assists with administrative oversight of the agency travel management program and ensures sufficient internal controls to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse. Participates in program reviews, evaluations, audits, and reporting activities.
  • Coordinates, plans, and organizes workload effectively in responding to organizational objectives, while keeping their supervisor apprised of Issues or problems.

Qualifications:

You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level.


Specialized experience is defined as
:


Experience interpreting Federal Travel Regulation into effective policies, procedures, helpdesk support services, ConcurGov configuration, system user guides and educational presentations, as well as fulfilling the corresponding audit responsibilities that ensure travelers are complying with publicized organizational guidelines.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
