This position will work primarily in the University's Audiology Clinic (The Pennsylvania Ear Institute) and is well suited for someone who has experience working in a small, fast-paced medical office, has exceptional organizational skills, and loves interacting with people.
Primary Function:
Responsible for patient registration, insurance identification and verification, scheduling appointments, collecting payments and charge entriesPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities: Manages all aspects of patient appointments, including but not limited to scheduling, pre-registration, insurance verification, checking in and checking out patients, collecting copayments Greets patients and obtains, verifies, updates, and compiles all registration, demographic and insurance information required Answers telephones, schedules patient appointments, verifies insurances, answers other pertinent questions Enters patient charges into the billing system including total bill, recording the information, collecting payments, completing insurance papers and recording charges, payments and adjustmentsEducation/Experience/
Skills Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent At least one (1) year of experience with medical insurance and medical terminology Minimum one (1) year of experience in a clerical position or equivalent formal training Excellent customer service skills are a must- in person and on the phone Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a friendly and cheerful demeanor Strong computer skills; including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Electronic Health Records Excellent verbal and written communication skills Available to work evenings and Saturdays as needed The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday during the day Other Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of third-party billing Experience using CounselEar (EHR system)
