    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    The Puerto Rican Cultural Center's Youth After School Programming will offer culturally and age-appropriate services to 100 youth (ages 7-17) from Latino and other ethnic minority backgrounds in the community of Humboldt Park. The Site Mentor will be responsible for providing services to youth and reports to the Program Coordinator.

    TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL DUTY SATISFACTORILY. THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND/OR ABILITY REQUIRED. REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS MAY BE MADE TO ENABLE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for providing life skills training, tutoring, and mentoring
    • Administer pre-test and post-test that show improvement between their pre-assessment evaluation and their post-assessment evaluation
    • Covering, developing, and discussing relevant topics with the participants
    • Responsible for planning a quarterly educational enrichment field trip for the youth, where they will learn about different career options and expand their work readiness skills
    • Develop, produce, and execute lesson plans that are submitted to the Program Coordinator on the 1st of every month
    • A mentor is to assist the Program Coordinator in recruitment strategies and articulates a plan for meeting all program metrics
    • A mentor is responsible for facilitating three hours of after-school programming five days a week
    • A mentor is to communicate with the Program Coordinator to request all resources or financial requests needed for programming
    • Participate in ongoing training, staff development, and program evaluation activities
    • Attends the PRCC and program-specific and organizational activities and meetings, including but not limited to the monthly organization-wide General Assembly
    • Participates in organizational annual events including but not limited to the Puerto Rican People's Parade, Fiesta Boricua, Three Kings Day, and Haunted Paseo Boricua
    • Performs other functions assigned

    This position requires compliance with all of The PRCC's written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, all policies and procedures, and Regulatory Compliance requirements. Compliance will be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.

    Requirements:

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be 24 years old or older
    • A resident of the Humboldt Park area or surrounding communities (highly desired)
    • Experience working with the target population
    • Knowledge of program management
    • SKILLS:
    • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred
    • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
    • Work independently with a strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open personal qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries

    • Must have High School Diploma

    Job Type: Part Time

    Pay: $19.25 an hour
