OB TITLE:
EDUCATION COORDINATOR


The Education Coordinators are responsible for all aspects of ITAV's early learning classrooms including curriculum planning and implementation, screening and assessments, teacher-student interactions, physical environment, home-school connection, the IEP/IFSP process and child outcomes. The Education Coordinators serve as mentors/coaches for the teaching teams and oversee teacher professional development plans and supervise mental health observations and training. The Education Coordinators work in collaboration with the Site Directors and together as a team to support teachers, strengthen the ITAV educational pathway, and ensure that the ITAV approach is aligned across all sites. In the absence of a Site Director, the Education Coordinator may be responsible for daily operations. The Education Coordinators report to the Director of Education.

SUMMARY

The Ed Coordinator is responsible for contributing to the overall mission of It Takes A Village and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality education and social service program. The Ed Coordinator should be fully knowledgeable of ITAV's Continuous Quality Improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Ed Coordinator is expected to support and contribute to inter-system collaboration with other staff members and external service providers to improve all social service delivery systems.

Serve as a mentor/coach by:

Planning, conducting, and documenting bi-monthly teacher meetings.
-
Planning, conducting, and documenting monthly Teaching Team Meetings.
-
Observing each classroom and providing regular feedback.
-
Modeling appropriate teaching behaviors when necessary.
-
Identifying training needs of staff and participates in the development of the program training plans.
-
Supervising lead teachers, teachers, and teacher aides.
-
Working collaboratively with the Site Director to report progress; plan new strategies; discuss problems; and review program policies and procedures.

Providing coverage in classrooms, when necessary, to ensure compliance.

Ensures program content by:

-
Monitoring implementation of curriculum to ensure that the learning goals of It Takes A Village and its funders are being met.

Ensuring weekly lesson plans are completed and providing feedback.
-
Utilizing Coaching for Fidelity to ensure appropriate curriculum implementation.
-
Ensuring appropriate postings are visible in the classroom and all pertinent documentation is present (emergency contact form, meal sheets, attendance books, sign-in sheets, logs).

Ensuring that classrooms are clean, organized, labeled and materials are accessible to children.
-
Ensuring the rotation of materials and resources in classrooms and that appropriate materials are used in activities.

Ensuring that all interest areas of the classroom are being utilized and equipped with the appropriate materials and supplies.

Ordering appropriate equipment, supplies, and materials in quantities needed with input from the teaching team and Site Director.

Using a child outcomes report from Creative Curriculum and Village Assessment tool to oversee planning for each classroom.
-
Completing quarterly outcome analysis report based on Teaching Strategies Gold Data and submitting it to DFSS and the Executive Director.

Working with external resources (Child and Family Connections and Chicago Public Schools) and families to ensure that developmental assessments and evaluations are completed.

Working with the Mental Health Consultant and DFSS Disabilities Liaison to support children with challenging behaviors.
-
Working with Family Support, Teaching Staff and the Director of Education to ensure the implementation of literacy activities for children and parents.
-
Organizing, orienting and monitoring new teaching staff, interns and volunteers in the classrooms.

Ensures the documenting of child outcomes by:


  • Making sure that documentation is placed into the Teaching Strategies Gold system, quarterly checkpoints are completed, and pertinent child case notes are placed in COPA.

Making sure that Village Assessments are completed three times a year and data is stored on the shared drive.

Utilizing the COPA system to case note professional development progress.
-
Ensuring that ASQ and ESI-R results are documented in COPA.
-
Ensure that documentation is consistently inputted into Teaching Strategies Gold.

Ensuring that lesson plans utilize information from the Child Profiles and Village Assessments.
