    **Retail Operations Compliance Specialist**

    at Design Within Reach Stamford, CT Herman Miller Retail is looking for a Retail Operations Compliance Specialist to join the Retail Operations Team. The position will be responsible for creating, leading and managing the Operational compliance process, projects and deliverables for Herman Miller, Design within Reach and HAY Retail brands.

    This role will be primarily responsible for management of all Retail Operations Compliance initiatives and internal cross functional compliance plans and strategies. The Retail Operations Compliance Specialist will work with disparate, complex systems and processes that are always evolving.

    This role will work with Retail Operations, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Service and Sales teams to align compliance needs with projects, business goals and solutions to drive effectiveness. This role will develop and manage internal Operations compliance processes and projects involving international retail brands.

    As the Retail Operations Compliance Specialist, you will determine the compliance status of new policies, programs and initiatives, analyze and update the compliance of existing policy and procedures. You will work directly with cross functional teams to create, collect, and maintain documentation as needed. As the Retail Operations Compliance specialist, youll be responsible for interpreting complex information that can have a serious impact on individuals, teams and the business. You must be able to think logically and analytically to problem-solve on a daily basis.

    Responsible for ensuring all Operational Compliance goals are met, and that all needs are aligned by providing timely and accurate distribution of information and materials. The ability to work independently while adjusting and adapting to management styles and techniques for the uniqueness of each project is essential to success in this role.

    Responsibilities:

    Work independently and be part of a cross-functional team to ensure operational compliance.

    Collect, maintain and document information to ensure compliance for retail processes.

    Coordinate with Retail Operations, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Service and Sales teams to identify priorities and flag issues.

    Frequently create and review reports for intelligence and information collection.

    Evaluate inherent risk associated with company processes in order to identify and evaluate the mitigating factors to arrive at solutions.

    Learn, understand and apply critical thinking to applicable data, reporting and systems analysis.

    Maintain confidential information, files and appropriate records.

    Support development of compliance management systems and processes.

    Develop timelines and manage orderly flow of Operations Compliance projects from initial scoping development to execution and production of final deliverables.

    Proactively and consistently conceive of, define, and develop compliance improvements to increase accuracy across Retail sales and operations initiatives.

    Define processes and tools best suited to each project with agility moving between approaches depending on project specifics and goals.

    Lead all deliverables for Compliance projects in support of cross-functional teams.

    Ensure projects are routed for proper approval and all sign-offs are recorded.

    Align with leadership on project timelines and ensure goals are met, working to problem solve as necessary. Ensure that all projects are delivered complete and on time.

    Anticipate and manage change effectively in rapidly evolving global business environments.

    Participate in weekly project and team status meetings.

    Meet with key players to ensure that project needs and deadlines are being met, and send clear and concise recap of applicable actions to be taken.

    Regularly communicate and present Compliance project schedules, statuses, and updates to various team members ranging from junior to Executive level, always tailoring communication and bringing solutions/opportunities.

    Ad hoc responsibilities as needed to support Operations and Retail Sales Management teams.

    Support New Store Opening, Training and Procurement teams as needed.

    Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

    Retail Operations and Compliance experience.

    The ability to communicate effectively with people at various levels both internally and externally, as well as the ability to develop strong relationships.

    The ability to assess priorities and determine a course of action and the ability to anticipate, recognize, and respond effectively to changes.

    Ability to learn and navigate new data management systems.

    Client-first perspective on operational sales and compliance processes with a solid understanding of driving solutions.

    Excellent analytical, critical thinking, communication and organizational skills.

    Proactive, results driven agile self-starter mindset.

    Familiarity with Project Management tools, Microsoft Office, NetSuite and Salesforce.
