    Description

    At WHOOP, we're dedicated to enhancing human performance by providing insights into users' bodies and daily routines. As WHOOP's Technical Accounting Director, you will play a crucial role in establishing close timelines, accounting policies, and internal controls, as well as conducting technical accounting research and documentation. This position involves overseeing the close process and external reporting and spearheading new controllership initiatives, always striving to add value to the company.



    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Manage internal and external financial reporting monthly, quarterly, and annually, including preparing financial statements and drafting footnote disclosures.
    • Conduct technical accounting research and document accounting positions in memos.
    • Offer reporting guidance to leadership on policy interpretation and application, particularly in complex accounting areas and new accounting standards.
    • Lead project teams for the implementation of new accounting standards, coordinating with external auditors.
    • Ensure company financial records adhere to company policies and US GAAP.
    • Create and update written guidance on accounting policies and procedures, providing relevant training and resources for staff.
    • Maintain supporting documentation and work papers for financial reporting, completing US GAAP and reporting checklists, and executing specific accounting closure procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley financial reporting regulations, including maintaining accounting policies.
    • Enhance the internal control environment for accounting transactions and financial reporting, aligning with Sarbanes-Oxley standards.
    • Coordinate closing schedules and reporting deadlines, overseeing the closing process.
    • Cultivate a culture of continuous enhancement.
    • Execute special projects as assigned by management.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 7+ years of experience in technical accounting and SEC reporting
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
    • Demonstrated proficiency in technical accounting and documentation
    • Strong leadership abilities, including coaching, mentoring, and team development to ensure high-quality work under tight deadlines and multiple projects
    • Keen attention to detail, excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
    • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
    • CPA certification preferred
