- Oversee the daily execution of programs designed to encourage campers to investigate The Crane Estate's unique identity from the standpoint of place - with a focus on environmental education.
- Create and implement a thoughtful schedule of educational and fun activities reflective of the weekly themes.
- Support, drive, and observe the weekly activity schedules created by camp staff.
- Supervise Camp Educators and assist the Crane Education Manager in the supervision of camp leadership staff.
- Lead weekly camp staff meetingsfor Camp Educators with assistance from Education Manager
- Assist with Camp Educator goal setting, self-evaluation, and evaluation process.
- Provide resources, feedback and regular communication to Camp Educators so that they can effectively supervise campers and execute the daily schedule.
- Complete administrative duties including paperwork organization, parent communication, and preparing for upcoming camp sessions.
- Manage photo and video content intended for parent communications and internal marketing.
- Participate actively in program development and camp evaluation meetings as part of the camp leadership team.
- Assist with pre- and post-season tasks
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
- The CD reports to the Crane Education Manager
- The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree or career in education, science, humanities, conservation/stewardship, or outdoor/environmental fields. (Bachelor's degree in education or science preferred)
- A minimum of one to three years of experience working as a camp counselor, classroom teacher, informal educator, and/or childcare provider with children ages 5-15.
- A particular interest in outdoor education, especially in a coastal environment
- Experience supervising a team of individuals and fostering a supportive environment for growthand collaboration.
- Motivated self-starter with ability to take initiative and accomplish necessary tasks in a timely manner with great independence, as well as to effectively work as part of a group.
- Willingness to bring passion and enthusiasm to working with young people.
- Highly computer literate, including comfort working with spreadsheets and database management software on tasks such as registration, scheduling, and billing.
- Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The physical and mental wherewithal to teach outdoors, sometimes under challenging weather and other conditions
- Minimum age is 21 years old
- Full-time availability during staff training weeks and all weeks of camp (June 10-August 23)
- Availability for pre-camp preparations April-June 9
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- MUST hold a valid driver's license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees driving policy.
- CPR and Basic First Aid certifications and/or willingness to obtain these and other certifications
- Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain one highly desired but not required
- A satisfactory criminal background check (CORI and SORI)

SummerQuest Camp is an outdoor adventure camp whose goal is to get children outside, encourage them to develop essential skills while inspiring in each child a personal connection to nature. SummerQuest at The Crane Estate is for campers aged 5-14 and runs June 24-August 23, Mondays-Fridays, 9AM-3PM.
