    QA Tester - Oakland, CA - 24+ months

    Must be local to Bay Area.

    More manual testing. Some automation.

    Prefer USC/GC

    Position Overview:
    This QA role strives to ensure that the solution delivered maintains the highest level of quality achievable. The candidate is mainly responsible for creating and executing test cases, both manually and through automation as required. Additionally, they will handle the detection, management, and resolution of issues identified during testing. This individual will also contribute to recognizing process enhancements and quality standards.

    Applicants must demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with the perseverance to uncover elusive defects and resolve them thoroughly. Collaboration and effective communication within a team setting are essential, alongside the capacity to work and problem-solve independently.

    Responsibilities:

    • Management and execution of test scenarios and cases, including the development and implementation of automated test scripts.
    • Creating test plans and cases by analyzing requirements, setting up test environments, and executing scripts with minimal supervision.
    • Executing SQL queries to validate database operations.
    • Utilizing tools like SoapUI or Postman for testing Web Services or Rest Services.
    • Performing various testing types such as Performance, Load, Regression, Integration, and Functional.
    • Identifying test data, executing test cases, and reporting defects.
    • Researching and implementing improved test practices proactively.
    • Utilizing various automation tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, MySQL, Eclipse IDE, and Core Java.
    • Estimating, tracking, and analyzing defect metrics related to testing activities.
    • Providing prompt updates and escalating critical risks to project and management teams.
    • Effective verbal and written communication for teamwork and technical documentation.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for technical and business issue resolution.
    • Collaboration with supervisors, business analysts, and developers to verify solutions.
    • Prioritizing tasks in a dynamic environment in coordination with the Supervisor and Project Manager.
    • Experience in the Healthcare industry is advantageous.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field required (minimum).
    • 7-8 years of QA experience, with at least 5 years in manual testing.
    • Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and database query execution.
    • Basic understanding of Java.
    • Experience testing standalone, web, backend systems, or mobile applications.
    • Proficiency in testing methodologies, test plans, and test case development.
    • Familiarity with defect reporting process.
    • Experience in writing and managing test cases and related documentation.
    • Knowledge of automation tools like Selenium web driver or equivalent.
