    Job Summary:

    Promotes professional growth by applying adult learning principles in program development. Utilizes expertise in Kaiser Permanentes electronic medical record system, KP HealthConnect (KPHC), to assess and address educational needs in a clinical setting; designs and delivers educational initiatives, including specialized training, ongoing education for staff, and training for system upgrades. Manages nursing competence & professional development programs in a defined clinical area. Conducts continual assessments of staff proficiencies and provides feedback. Acts as the KPHC expert to enhance clinical and operational processes.


    Essential Responsibilities:
    • Clinical Educator
    • Provides educational opportunities for nurses at all career stages. Assists in needs assessment and outcome identification. Adapts teaching strategies to meet learner needs and ensures high-quality instructional materials are utilized. Conducts ongoing performance assessments and provides feedback to management. Identifies competency gaps and recommends action plans.
    • Program and Curriculum Development / Evaluation
    • Designs and evaluates professional development programs based on adult learning principles. Evaluates educational activities' quality and effectiveness, ensuring continuous professional development. Develops education plans for staff orientation, competency validation, and specialty-specific training.
    • Clinical practice standards
    • Adapts programs to support changes in nursing practice and technology. Researches professional standards and clinical innovations to enhance patient care.
    • Clinical informatics expert
    • Leverages KPHC to enhance nursing practice and patient care processes. Analyzes workflows to improve nursing practices.
    • Clinical practice and Informatics interface
    • Maintains knowledge of Nursing and Healthcare Informatics trends. Provides clinical expertise and support for staff and leadership, ensuring high-quality patient care decisions.
    • Partnerships / Leadership Duties
    • Collaborates in interdisciplinary committees to integrate educational activities into clinical care. Supports IT enhancements for clinical practices.
    • Oversight
    • Evaluates clinical risks and develops corrective actions related to KPHC and clinical education. Ensures compliance with budget guidelines.
    • Strategic Communication
    • Adapts to varied roles, communicates effectively across disciplines, and fosters a safe work environment.
    • Basic Qualifications:
      • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience.
      • 1 year coordinating or managing education programs.
      • 1 year in staff professional development or clinical training.
    • Education
      • Masters degree in nursing or related field required.
      • Registered Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support certification required.
    • Additional Requirements:
      • Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act and healthcare regulations.
      • Demonstrated expertise in KP HealthConnect.
      • National Certification required within one year of hire.
      • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • 6 months experience in education program management preferred.
      • Doctorate of Nursing Practice or PhD in related field preferred.
